WHO NEEDS IT: CANADIAN STUDY PERMIT REQUIREMENT
A study permit is required for foreign nationals engaging in education or training exceeding six months at a designated learning institution (DLI) in Canada, with exemptions for activities like short-term courses and specific groups such as minor children inside Canada and registered Indians.
Notably, armed forces members are exempt, and a temporary public policy allows certain work permit holders to study without a study permit until June 27, 2026.
The Québec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) is no longer required for Quebec studies, and study permit holders with co-op work permits can pursue additional study programs under certain conditions.
